Not Registered to Vote? It Can Harm Your Credit Worthiness.

Make sure your are registered to vote. This a factor used by lenders to determined you suitability for credit.

There are many reasons why you could be declined for credit, many of which have nothing to do previous none or late payments of debts.

If you have recently moved home, and not on the electoral role, this can count against you. If could be the case that this single point trips the interest rate you are offered to a higher level. So it could cost you money not to be registered.

You are not automatically registered even if you pay council tax or are a homeowner.

You can register to vote by downloading the forms from aboutmyvote.co.uk. It will also tell you your local office to send them.

The website allows you to enter your postcode and it tells you which parliamentary constituency your are in and your MP’s name. Maybe one day it will be expanded to give a full breakdown of his/her expenses !
